The Magic Words

can make everything all right...

My son sold his dirtbike today.
I am sad.
It has made loads of people smile.
Whenever we have company, it is in constant use.
I can still hear the giggling of my nephew Bo, as my son gives Bo a ride and does a wheelie across the lawn.
Bo hangs on for dear life but laughs the entire time.

But today, even though I am still irritated that he sold it.
The dirtbike made me happy one last time.

As I walked away, the man he sold it to asked my 17 year old son,

"Is that your sister?"

  1. what? that would have made me giddy, ecstatic
to hear someone say that!!!! way to go, girl.

  2. Wow. I don't ever think I'll hear those words spoken to any of my children unless someone is trying to sell me something. ;)

  3. I am sure you look young enough to have that said!! DID your son answer the question for you?
I have to ask though, "were you giving him the evil eye for buying the bike?" :)

  4. LOVE THAT!!! I bet he will find a new toy to entertain Bo and the rest of the cousins, I'm sure that can't be too difficult :)
It's a good thing it's gone though, you have a hard enough time racing me down the hill on a bicycle! t.xoxoxo

  5. You crack me up! Well are you?

But Bo is going to be DEVASTATED! I think I won't tell him... :)

  6. Gosh I love when that happens! Was M irritated by that comment or doesn't he care?

  7. Love it!!!

It was nice seeing you last weekend! You have such a beautiful home!
    Have a great week!

  8. What a wonderful compliment to hear! It's hard to move on when change comes. I feel that this last year has brought so much change. I haven't been able to come up for air from all of it.

    Wishing you the best weekend!

  9. Oh' Kate, that had to make it almost worth it! Sorry about the bike but you should be riding high on that compliment for a few weeks.

    Hugs…Tracy @ Cotton Pickin Cute

  10. Oh, Kate. It is hard to change! The comment is too funny! I love it! I'll bet you do, too.

  11. I love this! I need a dirt bike buyer like that :)

Have a blessed and wonderful day!

  12. Hi Kate! Wishing you and your family a happy 4th!

(Be happy that your son has one less thing to kill himself with.)

  13. Kate sweetie I knew without meeting you that you are a HOTTIE. lol
Don't you love it when you get that kind of compliment.
