When my Great Aunt Nellie passed away, I was lucky enough to receive some of her beautiful shoes. She was a secretary to the president of a major department store in the 1940's and a very glamorous lady. I adore her beautiful shoes and in honor of her, don't you think I really need to start a vintage shoe collection?
Hope your Monday shoes are this beautiful!
Vintage shoes that are still in style! How nice.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way in h*** I would wear shoes like that. LOL. Don't get me wrong I adore the style of them, but you will NEVER find me in high heels, LOL. I'm more of a sandals that conform to your feet in comfort kind of gal. Ha! My great-grandmother passed away a few years ago and she was just the sweetest dear. She too worked for a dept. store most of her life, and it was a common thing that they had to wear the high heals. Her poor old feet were a tangled mess, all of her toes were shaped to a point, the bones repositioned, from wearing those high heels for all those years. She had such a time getting around. I would never do that to myself for the sake of fashion, LOL. It probably shows, unfortunately. Anyway, thanks for sharing those cuties with us, Hope your day is fab-YOU-lous!
ReplyDeleteLe Sigh...is there anything better than a vintage shoe collection? I think not and YES you should start a vintage shoe collection PRONTO! You're well on your way with your Aunt Nellie's shoes...so sweet! L-O-V-E the aqua pair!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week!!
I love them, especially the blue ones. Do you wear them and do you have the original boxes they came in? I think we should all start a vintage shoe collection. xxx
ReplyDeleteAunt Nellie had great taste! What a special gift to be able to wear them and think of her. Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteIf only Aunt Nelly could see them now :)
ReplyDeleteI think you need to take Aunt Nelly out dancing!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely shoes! I would love to have my own collection of vintage shoes!
ReplyDeleteHey Kate! I love, love, love shoes. I used to wear heels all the time but don't go anywhere to wear them anymore. Well just last week I decided to wear a pair of square toed short heels with slacks. Major mistake. I almost cried by the time I got home. Talk about a blister, oh' my poor big toe.
ReplyDeleteI bet your Aunt was gorgeous. I still remember dressing up to go shopping in the early 60's. Wouldn't you just love to have all those wonderful old clothes she had. I don't blame you for cherishing this beautiful shoes.
I've been thinking about you daily. I just have to learn to quit procrastinating. hee-hee.
Hope your having a blessed day. Hugs...Tracy :)
Yes, yes I do! I love vintage shoes and am always drawn to them at the thrift stores but alas the dainty ladies of yesteryear did NOT wear size 9 boats like I do :( I have to tell you Kate that I love Libbys post about you, it was fantastic! Congrats on MVP! That is so impressive! I was never athletic like that but I could be your cheerleader, it's what I did all throughout highschool, can we still be friends? Enjoy your Monday...Theresa
ReplyDeleteMy Monday shoes are nothing like that! I'm too causal!
ReplyDeleteDearest Kate, just love all of these shoes. Why not put them on a shelf somewhere in your house? The first pair of shoes of all my children are somewhere in the house exposed. Sweet Treasures... I know you treasure those lovelies and you should. They are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy Monday shoes are still a pair of elegant boots.... boots in the winter and flats in Summer.... xoxo
In case you haven't noticed, you already have a vintage shoe collection. Now you just need to actively add to it!

They are quite gorgeous, although I could never wear them with my foot troubles. I would be happy to look at them amd be inspired, just imagining the fine lady who wore them! Hugs!
ReplyDeletethey are so pretty!!your aunt had some great taste!love those aqua ones...
ReplyDeleteKate,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your loss What a great way to remember your great aunt!! Love the vintage shoes. I hope she knows you remembered her for her sense of style. We never know how we will leave a mark on others.
On a lighter note, good luck with the leprechaun. When he used to come to our house, he would do some mischievous things! Green silly string was all over the kitchen. It took a very long time to get it off of everything!!
Did you know that leprechauns tinkle green? All of our toilets had green in them!!
Oh how fun, though!
Good luck :)
Have a fun green day
XoXo
Gail
Wow...what treasures! You are so lucky...enjoy. Happy week to you. xoxox
ReplyDeleteThose are AWESOME!!! I would so be wearing those!! Granted, I only wear heels once a week, but that one day ~ I'd be in those! Guess what? sun's out in the Pac NW woohoo! Time to go plant the 30 free boxwoods I got off craigslist yesterday (spastic move in the middle of painting our room!!)
ReplyDeleteShellagh
I used to have a vintage pair of black patent pumps with the stiletto heel and the black grosgrain ribbon on the toe. (Hope I spelled that right!) Anyway, they were wonderful and I wore them with everything, dressing up and dressing down. They've since bit the dust (I wore them right out, I'm afraid!) but what a wonderful pair of shoes. I felt like a million bucks when I had them on.
ReplyDeleteYour collection is gorgeous! Are they your size and can you wear them?
Enjoy!
